Reese’s Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup butter, melted

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups mini Reese’s cups, chopped

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional but recommended)

  • ½ cup peanut butter chips (optional)


🥣 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Prepare cake batter according to the package directions and pour it evenly into the pan.

  3. Make the peanut butter swirl
    In a bowl, mix peanut butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.

  4. Assemble

    • Spoon the peanut butter mixture randomly over the cake batter.

    • Sprinkle Reese’s pieces, chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips over the top.

    • Lightly swirl with a knife (don’t overmix).

  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes
    The center should be slightly gooey and the top cracked.

  6. Cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.


🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream

  • Drizzle with chocolate or peanut butter sauce

  • Dust lightly with powdered sugar


⭐ Tips

  • Don’t overbake—earthquake cakes are meant to be gooey.

  • For extra peanut butter flavor, add a drizzle of melted peanut butter after baking.
