Chocolate Lava Mug Cake

Description:
Chocolate lava mug cake is a quick, single-serving dessert with a soft chocolate cake on the outside and a warm, gooey center. Made in minutes using the microwave, it’s perfect when you want a rich chocolate treat without baking a full cake.


Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3 tablespoons milk

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1–2 teaspoons chocolate chips or a small piece of chocolate (for the lava center)


Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. Add milk, oil (or butter), and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth with no lumps.

  3. Gently push the chocolate chips or chocolate piece into the center of the batter.

  4. Microwave on high for 45–60 seconds, watching closely. The top should look set but slightly soft in the center.

  5. Let rest for 1 minute before eating. The center will be warm and molten.


Tips and Variations

  • Do not overcook or the lava center will firm up.

  • Serve with a spoon of vanilla ice cream if desired.

  • Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
