1 lb ground beef
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
-
1 cup sour cream
-
½ cup milk
-
1½ cups cooked white rice
-
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
-
½ cup frozen peas (optional)
-
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Drain off any excess grease.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
Add the cooked beef mixture, cooked rice, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, and frozen peas if using. Stir until everything is evenly combined.
Step 4: Assemble the Casserole
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Step 5: Bake
Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the cheese is fully melted and lightly golden.
Step 6: Rest and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
