Description:
Cream cheese custard bars are a rich yet light dessert featuring a buttery crust topped with a smooth, creamy custard made from cream cheese and eggs. They’re softly set, slightly tangy, and perfectly sweet, making them ideal for parties, holidays, or an easy make-ahead dessert.


Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Custard Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, mix flour, butter, and powdered sugar until crumbly.

  3. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

  4. Bake the crust for 12–15 minutes, until lightly golden.

  5. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.

  6. Add sugar and mix until creamy.

  7. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

  8. Mix in milk and flour until fully combined and smooth.

  9. Pour the custard filling over the warm crust.

  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the center is set but slightly jiggly.

  11. Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing.


Tips and Variations

  • Chill well for clean slices.

  • Sprinkle nutmeg or cinnamon lightly on top before baking for extra flavor.

  • Serve plain or dusted with powdered sugar.
