Heaven on Earth Cake, also known as Cherry Angel Trifle, is a light, creamy, no-bake dessert that truly lives up to its name. Made with fluffy angel food cake, silky vanilla pudding blended with Greek yogurt, and sweet-tart cherry pie filling, this layered dessert is as beautiful as it is delicious.

It’s the perfect make-ahead treat for potlucks, holidays, summer gatherings, or anytime you want an impressive dessert without turning on the oven.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • No baking required

  • Light, airy, and not overly sweet

  • Easy to assemble with simple ingredients

  • Perfect for feeding a crowd

  • Even better when made ahead

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Angel food cake (store-bought or homemade) 1–2 cakes
Instant vanilla pudding mix 1 (3.4 oz) box
Cold milk 1½ cups
Plain Greek yogurt 1 cup
Cherry pie filling (divided) 1 (21 oz) can
Frozen whipped topping, thawed 1 (8 oz) container
Almond slivers (optional garnish) As needed

Instructions

1. Prepare the Angel Food Cake

Cut the angel food cake into bite-sized cubes and set aside.

2. Make the Pudding Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until the mixture begins to thicken. Gently fold in the Greek yogurt until smooth and fully combined.

3. First Layer

Spread about half of the cake cubes evenly in a 9×13-inch dish. Spoon about two-thirds of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer and spread gently.

4. Second Layer

Add the remaining cake cubes on top of the cherry layer. Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake, gently spreading it so it fills the gaps between the cubes.

5. Topping & Garnish

Spread the whipped topping evenly over the pudding layer. Drizzle the remaining cherry pie filling decoratively over the top. Garnish with almond slivers if desired.
Optional: Toast the almonds briefly in a dry skillet until lightly golden for extra flavor.

6. Chill

Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the layers to set and the flavors to blend perfectly.

Serving Tips

  • Serve chilled for best texture

  • Spoon into dessert cups for individual servings

  • Add fresh cherries or chocolate shavings for variation
